Islamabad, Dec 14: An IndiGo Airlines flight traveling from New Delhi to Jeddah made an unscheduled landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport after a passenger experienced a medical emergency during the flight.
Aviation sources reported that a 55-year-old male passenger became critically ill while the plane was in Pakistani airspace. Despite the crew administering oxygen, the passenger’s condition deteriorated, prompting the pilot to request emergency assistance.
The pilot contacted Karachi Air Traffic Control and received permission for an emergency landing.
The aircraft safely landed at Karachi Airport, where a medical team from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority boarded and provided immediate treatment to stabilize the passenger.
The passenger, an Indian Muslim, was also given medication during the process. Once his condition was stabilized, the flight did not continue to Jeddah but returned to New Delhi, as confirmed by airport officials.
