According to a new study conducted by the Center of Migration Control (CMC), the number of foreign nationals convicted of sex crimes in the United Kingdom has risen significantly, with Indian citizens being at the forefront of the surge in 2024. The percentage of the Indian nationals arrested increased threefold in a period of three years, as 28 cases were filed in 2021, and 100 were filed in 2024, which made them the biggest group of convicted foreigners.

Romanians and Poles with 92 and 83 convictions in that order follow India and Pakistani nationals with 56. Other nations in the top 10 list are Afghanistan (43), Nigeria (40), Sudan (37), Bangladesh (34), Portugal (33) and Iran (30).

In general, foreigners constituted 14.1 percent of sexual-offense convictions in the past year, including rape, according to Ministry of Justice figures based on the Police National Computer. The increase of foreigners was way ahead of the 39.3% recorded by UK nationals. Other crimes exhibited similar tendencies whereby the number of foreign nationals with cases of theft increased by 77.9 percent and the number of foreign nationals with cases of robbery increased by 18.9 percent.

These results are alongside net migration highs of 906,000 in 2023 and almost 28,000 migrants coming in on small boats in 2023 (records since 2018). The increase in migrant population also seems to have a close association with the increased sex crime convictions of foreigners in the UK, posing increasing concerns to law enforcers and commercial safety agencies.
