Veteran spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin has formally concluded his Indian Premier League career as he may be turning his interest to other franchise based tournaments. The 38-year-old tweeted, “They say every ending will have a new start, my time as an IPL player comes to a close today, but my time as an explorer of the game across leagues begins today. Look forward to letting and utilizing what is yet to come.”

Ashwin began and ended his IPL career with Chennai Super Kings, also playing for Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab. He stands at a fifth position in the IPL wicket-takers leading list with 187 wickets in 221 games and a good economy (7.2) rate.

Withdrawing himself off the international scene in December 2024, Ashwin is the second heaviest wicket-taker in the test matches of India. His effectiveness with the off spin bowling and reliable showings have made an ever lasting impression on Indian cricket enthusiasts and in the franchised forms of the game.
