An Indonesia earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck Central Sulawesi early Sunday, leaving dozens injured, according to the country’s disaster management agency (BNPB). The quake occurred at a shallow depth of about 10 km (6.2 miles) and sent strong tremors across Poso Regency and nearby areas. Officials confirmed at least 29 injuries, including two people in critical condition.

Local reports revealed that one church suffered damage, while parts of another church under renovation collapsed, trapping people beneath the rubble. Emergency crews rushed to rescue those affected. A dramatic video from Poso captured the moment worshippers, singing hymns in a church, were suddenly interrupted by violent shaking that caused panic and chaos.
Surveillance footage from a grocery store in the region also showed intense tremors, sending customers scrambling for safety. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported so far, BNPB stated.

Authorities continue to monitor aftershocks and assess structural damage in the area. The Indonesia earthquake has once again raised concerns about the country’s vulnerability to seismic activity, given its location on the Pacific “Ring of Fire.”
