The Indus River’s water flow at Guddu Barrage has crossed four lakh cusecs, raising serious flood concerns in Sindh and Punjab. Officials confirmed that large parts of the katcha area have already been submerged.
According to the control room, the inflow at Guddu Barrage reached 401,626 cusecs, while the outflow stood at 380,896 cusecs on Monday. Within the last 24 hours, the river flow at Guddu has surged by 10,922 cusecs.
At Sukkur Barrage, the inflow has been recorded at 340,000 cusecs with an outflow of 311,000 cusecs. Meanwhile, the Kotri Barrage is experiencing a low flood with 236,000 cusecs inflow and 231,000 cusecs outflow.
The Punjnad Headworks has seen water levels climb to 564,000 cusecs, as per the Flood Forecasting Division. Continuous heavy flooding has also been reported in the Sutlej, Chenab, and Ravi rivers, with PDMA Punjab warning of an exceptionally high flood risk by September 9.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced that the Indus flood peak has been delayed and is now expected to hit Guddu Barrage on September 9, possibly surpassing 800,000 cusecs. He confirmed that evacuation efforts have been intensified, with ministers stationed along both banks of the Indus to supervise precautionary measures.
