Islamabad, July 1, 2025: Brazilian side Fluminense stunned Inter Milan with a 2-0 win in Inter vs Fluminense fixture to advance to the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup, where they will clash with Al-Hilal — the team that knocked out Manchester City.
Forward German Cano’s low header in just the third minute gave the South American giants an early advantage, and substitute Hercules curled in a second goal from the edge of the area during a challenging final stretch dominated by the Italian club.
During the Inter vs Fluminense clash, Inter’s key attacker Lautaro Martinez had multiple opportunities to level the score before the second goal went in — one notably struck the post late in the game. Federico Dimarco was also threatening, delivering two dangerous free-kicks and unleashing a powerful shot from a tight position.
Yet, perhaps the clearest opportunity came to Dutch center-back Stefan de Vrij, who latched onto a smart header from Martinez.

In Inter vs Fluminense, Martinez showed sparks of promise after tactical changes by new coach Cristian Chivu, but Marcus Thuram underwhelmed. Meanwhile, veterans Thiago Silva, 44-year-old Fabio, and attacker Jhon Arias shone brightly for the Brazilians.
