Islamabad, June 26, 2025: Inter Milan have advanced to the 16th round in the Club World Cup following a win over River Plate in the Inter vs River Plate clash, a match that saw the Argentine side finish with just nine players and exit out of the tournament.

A key moment unfolded when River Plate’s Lucas Martinez Quarta was shown a red card in the 66th minute for preventing midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from a clear scoring opportunity.

Shortly afterwards, 19-year-old Francesco Esposito took a touch before lashing in his debut goal for the club to give the Italian side the lead.

Alessandro Bastoni then doubled the advantage for the Italian team with a left-footed finish five minutes into stoppage time, and River Plate’s Gonzalo Montiel was also sent off after receiving a second yellow, as the Inter vs River Plate encounter ended in a chaotic fashion with multiple scuffles.
