During his visit to Europe, Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, met Pope Francis in Vatican City on Tuesday, receiving a warm welcome upon arrival. The meeting focused on discussions regarding the promotion of peace, brotherhood, interfaith harmony, and dialogue. Pope Francis commended Pakistan’s efforts in the immediate repair and reconstruction of churches following the Jaranwala tragedy. He emphasized the importance of working together to establish peace globally and expressed his intention to visit Pakistan soon, upon invitation from the Prime Minister.
The Pope also expressed concerns about the situation in Palestine, highlighting the need for interfaith dialogue and harmony as essential for resolving issues. Minister Mohsin Naqvi thanked Pope Francis for his advocacy on the Palestine issue and briefed him on Pakistan’s sacrifices and efforts in the fight against terrorism. He praised the Pope’s contributions to promoting peace and harmony worldwide.
Minister Naqvi reiterated the Pakistani government’s commitment to protecting minorities, citing the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), the Father of the Nation, and the constitution, which emphasize minority rights and well-being. He emphasized that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal rights for all minorities.
The meeting concluded with Pope Francis offering prayers for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity, extending good wishes to its people.
