ISLAMABAD, JULY 31: RAMALLAH: Mahmud Abbas, the president of Palestine, called the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh a “cowardly act” on Wednesday and encouraged his people to fight Israel together.
According to a statement from Abbas’s office, “President Mahmud Abbas of the State of Palestine strongly condemned the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, deeming it a cowardly act and a serious escalation.” “He called on our people and their armed forces to come together, exercise patience, and resist the Israeli occupation.”
The murder of Ismail Haniyeh, the chairman of Hamas, in Tehran has been denounced by international leaders.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov stated on Wednesday that Russia condemned the “unacceptable political assassination” of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
Bogdanov told the state-run news outlet RIA Novosti, “It is a completely unacceptable political assassination, and this will lead to a further escalation of tensions.”
The foreign affairs ministry of Turkey also denounced in a statement the “shameful assassination” of Ismail Haniyeh, the political head of Hamas and an associate of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The ministry declared, “We condemn the shameful assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas’s political office, in Tehran,” and added, “This attack also aims to spread the Gaza war to a regional dimension.”
Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, was killed by an Israeli attack in Tehran, the Palestinian group stated earlier on Wednesday.
The organization released a statement stating that its leader, brother, and mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, perished in a Zionist attack on his Tehran home after taking part in the swearing-in of the country’s new president.
