Islamabad, Mar 09, 2025: Inzamam-ul-Haq has expressed his disapproval of Sunil Gavaskar’s comments regarding Pakistan’s performance in the Champions Trophy 2025.
During a recent interview, Gavaskar had suggested that even a second-string Indian team could easily defeat Pakistan, citing the country’s lack of bench strength and their struggle to produce top-order batters.
He also questioned why Pakistan had failed to nurture players like Inzamam.
In response, Inzamam acknowledged India’s strong performances but emphasized that Gavaskar should reconsider his statements.
He reminded the Indian legend of a time when India had refused to play Pakistan in Sharjah, suggesting that such remarks should be made with care.
Inzamam, while respecting Gavaskar’s stature in the cricketing world, urged him to refrain from undermining Pakistan’s team and dignity.
Inzamam further stated that while it’s acceptable to praise one’s own team, negative comments about others are inappropriate.
He emphasized the importance of choosing words carefully when discussing rival teams.
