Islamabad, Mar 20 2025: The 2025 Indian Premier League season is fast approaching, with all franchises gearing up with strong squads.
However, some teams are dealing with significant injury setbacks, which have forced them to bring in replacements for key players ahead of the tournament.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are among the teams affected, as pacer Umran Malik, who was bought for ₹75 Lakhs, has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
KKR turned to Chetan Sakariya, a former squad member, to replace the injured Umran Malik and strengthen their bowling attack for the upcoming season.
Mumbai Indians (MI) are also facing injury troubles. Allah Ghazanfar, bought for ₹4.8 Crores, suffered a serious injury before the Champions Trophy 2025 and will miss the IPL.
MI have replaced him with fellow Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who had gone unsold during the auction but is now a crucial addition to their spin department.
Lizaad Williams of MI is ruled out due to a knee injury, with South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch replacing him, providing both batting and bowling options.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) also made a change after Brydon Carse aggravated his left toe injury.
The franchise signed South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder as his replacement, bringing in a like-for-like replacement with solid bowling and lower-order batting abilities.
