This year, Pakistanis will not enjoy a public holiday on Iqbal Day, which is observed every year on November 9 to honor the birth of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
According to the annual public holidays notification issued by the Cabinet Division, Iqbal Day was listed as an official holiday. However, since November 9 falls on a Sunday this year, no extra day off will be granted.
Every year, the nation marks Iqbal Day with cultural events, poetry sessions, and educational programs celebrating the poet-philosopher’s legacy. The day serves as a reminder of Iqbal’s vision for Muslim unity and his key role in inspiring the Pakistan Movement through his philosophy of Khudi (selfhood).
