Islamabad June 15, 2025 – Despite growing violence between Iran and Israel, U.S. President Donald Trump says a peace agreement could happen soon. He believes the Iran-Israel Deal is possible and even suggested Russian President Vladimir Putin could help as a mediator.

In a post on his social platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal. We will have PEACE, soon, between Israel and Iran! Many calls and meetings now taking place.”

Trump shared no specific details about the meetings but remained hopeful, even as both countries exchanged deadly airstrikes over the weekend. According to reports, many people have died in the latest attacks.

In an interview with ABC News, Trump said that recent events might actually push both sides to come to the table. “Something like this had to happen,” he said. “They want to talk, and they will be talking. It may have forced a deal to go quicker.”

He also mentioned a phone call with Putin on Saturday, saying the two spoke more about the Middle East conflict than the ongoing war in Ukraine. Trump claimed Putin was interested in helping and “ready” to mediate.

The White House has not commented on Trump’s claims. Trump, however, compared this potential peace deal to one he said he helped arrange between India and Pakistan during his first term, using trade incentives as motivation. “I do a lot and never get credit, but the people understand,” he added.

Talks between the U.S. and Iran about Iran’s nuclear program were supposed to continue in Oman on Sunday but were canceled after the strikes.

While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday that Israel would increase its military action, Trump remains optimistic that the Iran-Israel Deal will eventually happen.
