Islamabad, Nov 18: Amid rumors of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei being in a coma, the Iranian Supreme Leader shared a photo on Sunday showing him meeting an Iranian diplomat.
Recent media claims suggested that Khamenei, aged 85, had fallen into a coma and allegedly designated his 55-year-old son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as his successor during a confidential meeting.
These reports followed an October article by The New York Times stating that Khamenei was in critical health.
The image posted on Khamenei’s official X account depicted him conversing with Mojtaba Amani, Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon, in his office.
The Persian caption noted that Ayatollah Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, met and spoke with Mr. Mojtaba Amani, the seasoned ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lebanon, during his routine meetings earlier today.
Amani, who sustained injuries in September during explosions linked to pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah in Lebanon, reportedly provided a health update during this meeting.
The attack, which killed 39 people and injured thousands, was attributed by Iran and Hezbollah to Israel.
Last month, Ayatollah Khamenei delivered his first sermon in five years, marking a significant moment following Iran’s launch of 180 missiles targeting key infrastructure in Israel.
Speaking on October 5 to a large gathering in Tehran, he supported Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements, asserting that Israel “would not endure.” Describing the missile strikes as a “public service,” Khamenei held a firearm while declaring Israel’s inability to triumph over Hamas or Hezbollah. Both groups receive support from Iran in their ongoing conflicts with Israeli forces.
