Islamabad, June 17, 2025: The studio complex of Iran’s state news channel, IRINN, was struck by Israel on Monday, according to Iran’s state news agency. The IRINN Studio Attack occurred during a live broadcast, with a loud explosion heard as an anchor was presenting on air.
Iranian state television briefly went off air following the incident. Hassan Abedini, a senior official at the broadcasting service, confirmed the “military operation” against the Islamic Republic of Iran news network, part of IRIB.
“The Zionist regime, the enemy of the Iranian nation… conducted a military operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran news network,” Abedini stated, adding that “the voice of the Islamic revolution and the great Iran will not be silenced with a military operation.” The attack was also confirmed by the Israeli defense minister.

Video footage shared by Iranian media showed the presenter reacting to a sudden blast before leaving the live broadcast. TV anchor Sahar Emami, on air at the time, spoke out against the “aggression against the homeland” and the “truth” just as an explosion happened and smoke and debris filled the screen.
The footage then showed her quickly leaving the studio as a voice could be heard shouting, “God is greatest.” Although programming was briefly halted, it returned to normal within minutes, IRNA reported. Visuals from the attack on the IRIB building were posted by Iran’s Mehr news agency and Press TV
Iran has condemned the strike on the IRINN Studio Attack as a “war crime.” Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei called the act “wicked” and urged the UN Security Council to take action to stop further “atrocities.”
This direct strike on Iranian TV offices came shortly after Iranian media had reported Israeli airstrikes in a civilian residential neighborhood in Tehran, marking a significant escalation in ongoing regional tensions.
