Islamabad, Feb 17: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is currently in New York, where he will represent Pakistan at a high-level United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session focused on multilateralism and global governance. The meeting, titled “Practicing Multilateralism: Reforming and Improving Global Governance,” is scheduled to begin tomorrow and is being organized by China.
This 15-member UNSC meeting will be led by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and Pakistan fully supports China’s timely initiative, recognizing the vital role of multilateralism in tackling the complex global challenges of today.
In his address, Ishaq Dar will emphasize Pakistan’s strong commitment to multilateralism and the vital role of the United Nations in fostering peace, security, and sustainable development worldwide. He will also outline Pakistan’s key priorities as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the 2025-2026 term, stressing the need for enhanced dialogue, collaboration, and a more inclusive approach to global governance.

Beyond the UNSC session, Ishaq Dar is expected to engage in one-on-one discussions with other foreign ministers and high-ranking United Nations officials.
