Islamabad, May 14, 2025: Authorities in the Islamabad have decided to modernize traffic protocols at city checkposts by using advanced technology and revising deployment practices.

According to Islamabad police officials, a directive has been issued for all unfit personnel posted at the 17 major checkposts across Islamabad to report back to headquarters.

Police men aged 35 years or below will be deployed at these posts.

Inspector General (IG) Islamabad has also ordered to redesign the security layout at all checkposts in the city.

In the first phase, the six checkposts within the Red Zone have been digitalized as part of this initiative.

Sources also revealed that citizens will now be able to report any misconduct by traffic officers digitally through video link, enhancing transparency and public trust.

Moreover, it has been made compulsory for police officials deployed at checkposts to wear and use body camera kits during duty hours.

In another significant step, traditional checkpost barriers are now being replaced with a proper lane system to ensure smoother traffic flow.

This change is made in response to growing traffic congestion during routine vehicle inspections.

IG Islamabad clarified the move is aimed at improving efficiency, accountability, and public experience during security checks in the capital.
