Islamabad, July 29, 2025: The search and rescue operation to locate the girl who was swept away along with her father in floodwaters near DHA Phase 5 has officially been called off after six days of intensive efforts.

According to Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi, specialized teams conducted an extensive operation in River Sawan, covering the area from the site of the incident to the Gorakhpur point. Despite the prolonged efforts, no trace of the girl was found.

The operation involved multiple search methods, including boat patrolling, underwater scuba diving, magnet-based detection, and foot searches. Rescue 1122’s trained units led the operation with full dedication throughout the six-day period.

Earlier, the body of the girl’s father, Colonel (R) Ishaq Qazi, was recovered from River Sawan during the same operation. The tragic incident took place on July 22, when both father and daughter were swept away in their car due to heavy monsoon flooding in a private housing society’s Phase 5 area.

Authorities have stated that no further search activities will be conducted at this stage, and the operation stands concluded.
