Islamabad, 12 May, 2025: In a major ruling aimed at tackling the growing concern of drug use in educational spaces, the Islamabad High Court has ordered a restriction on parcel and food delivery personnel entering schools and colleges across the capital.

The court, under the direction of Justice Inam Amin Minhas, expressed serious alarm over how illegal substances are allegedly making their way into classrooms through seemingly harmless courier services.

During the proceedings, the judge raised concerns about the unchecked entry of delivery riders into academic institutions, suggesting that such access could be a gateway for drugs to reach students.

Justice Minhas reportedly asked authorities to examine which schools and colleges frequently receive direct deliveries.

According to the court’s observation, there was evidence that along with food items like pizza, some students may also be receiving banned substances through the same channels.

The judge called for a complete ban on delivery staff making unsupervised entries into schools and colleges, arguing that without regulation, these services could pose a risk to student welfare.

He further instructed that records be kept of deliveries made to educational institutions and stressed that any school or college failing to follow the court’s order should face immediate disciplinary action.

Justice Minhas urged local administration and police to cooperate in enforcing the order and recommended that educational managements put in place strict controls for any incoming deliveries.

The court hinted that the convenience of students should not come at the cost of their health and safety.

The decision has sparked debate among educational stakeholders and the delivery sector, with implementation expected to follow in the coming days.

The High Court’s move reflects growing national concern over drug access among youth, especially in urban academic settings.
