Islamabad, Feb 7: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has implemented a new biometric verification system as a mandatory step for issuing stamp papers, aiming to curb fraud and enhance the security of official transactions. According to an ICT administration spokesperson, stamp papers without biometric authentication will no longer be valid, and the new system will include a biometric slip with each document to streamline the verification process.
Stamp vendors in Islamabad are now required to adhere to the biometric verification process. Those failing to comply with these guidelines will be prohibited from issuing stamp papers. Islamabad’s Deputy Commissioner, Irfan Nawaz Memon, emphasized that this initiative is essential for eliminating counterfeit stamp papers, which have been a source of significant legal and financial challenges for citizens.
The move comes in response to the growing problem of fake stamp papers, which had led to several incidents of forgery. These fraudulent documents had resulted in numerous cases that created complications for both individuals and businesses. The introduction of biometric verification is designed to offer a more secure and trustworthy method for ensuring the authenticity of documents.
With the new system in place, individuals will now be able to confidently complete official transactions, knowing that their stamp papers are legitimate and protected against fraudulent activity. This step is expected to increase transparency and reliability in the stamp paper issuance process in Islamabad, making it more difficult for counterfeit documents to circulate.
