Islamabad, June 4, 2025: Ticket prices for metro and electric buses in the capital have been cut once more, returning to the earlier, lower rates with immediate effect.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has recently faced criticism over inconsistent pricing in the city’s public transport system. Earlier indications of an intended fare increase led to strong backlash from citizens and commuter rights groups.
Despite initially rejecting claims of any planned hike, the CDA went ahead with the fare raise days later, further angering regular passengers.

Following growing public pressure, the authority has now withdrawn the price increase and reinstated the former fare structure. This rollback is being seen as a response to public demand and an attempt to ease financial stress on daily travellers.

Many riders have expressed satisfaction over the decision, calling it a much-needed relief as cost-of-living pressures continue to rise. However, concerns remain over the CDA’s fare-setting approach and the lack of clarity in its future plans.
