Islamabad, 10 May, 2025: In a significant administrative move, authorities in Islamabad have announced the closure of all petrol filling stations within the federal capital for a continuous 48-hour period, beginning at 6:00 AM on Saturday, 10 May 2025.
The directive was officially issued by the Office of the District Magistrate of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), under the supervision of Irfan Nawaz Memon, PAS, and circulated on Friday.

As per the notification, the temporary suspension of fuel supply applies to every petrol station operating in the capital city limits and will remain in effect until early Monday morning.
The notification has been forwarded to key departments, including the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, the Inspector General of Police, and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Additionally, the Higher Education Commission and media regulatory bodies like PEMRA were instructed to ensure public awareness through various communication platforms.

Officials familiar with the matter indicated that this precautionary measure has been taken amid heightened security concerns and logistical planning across the capital.

Fuel pump owners across Islamabad were formally notified as part of the distribution list to ensure compliance.
