Islamabad, May 19, 2025: Islamabad Police has introduced a new paid service titled “Extra Protocol”, allowing applicants to fast-track their driving license procedure.
By paying a fee of Rs. 2,000, individuals can avail priority assistance from the entrance of the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) Office to the issuance of the license all within the span of one hour.

The initiative has sparked a mixed public response. While some citizens welcome the convenience and speed, others have raised concerns, arguing that it reinforces a VIP culture, where faster services are reserved for those able to afford extra charges.
This development follows a substantial increase in licensing charges introduced in May 2024. The regular license fee has now climbed to Rs. 2,400, accompanied by several newly added charges:
- Rs. 200 for the medical examination
- Rs. 200 for priority processing
- Rs. 200–500 for road tests, depending on the vehicle category
- Rs. 200 for the road safety session

Furthermore, applicants who possess a license issued from outside Islamabad must now pay an NOC fee of Rs. 1,000.
In addition to license services, the Capital Police also levy charges for other public services:
- Rs. 1,000 for character certificates and background verifications
- Rs. 1,500 for vehicle inspection
- Rs. 3,500 for forensic verification
In response to growing concerns over fee irregularities, the Inspector General’s Office has taken over all revenue-related responsibilities to ensure greater oversight and accountability in fee collections.
