Islamabad, Oct 5: Islamabad Safe City Cameras Reintroduced for Traffic Fines Monitoring
he Islamabad Police’s e-challan system has significantly improved traffic law enforcement, leading to a reduction in fatal accidents and other traffic violations.
In September alone, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued 1,436 e-challan tickets, contributing to the total of over 0.274 million tickets issued since the system’s implementation.
This system, aligned with international standards, utilizes data from the Excise and Taxation departments to efficiently manage and monitor violators.
E-challans are sent directly to the vehicle owners’ mobile phones and homes, ensuring transparency. If fines remain unpaid, the challan is attached to the vehicle’s master file, preventing any transfer of ownership until the payment is made. To ease the process, citizens can pay fines through mobile wallets and bank accounts.
Islamabad Safe City Cameras, Shakir Hussain Dawar, highlighted that the e-challan system, supported by Safe City’s cameras, has been instrumental in reducing accidents and improving adherence to traffic laws. Continuous improvements are being made to enhance its effectiveness.
