The federal government has approved a comprehensive plan to expand and modernise Islamabad’s security system, with a goal to make the capital a “crime-free” city. The plan includes setting up new police stations in high-crime areas and upgrading existing facilities.

The decision came during a three-hour review meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, which reviewed security preparedness and development projects across the capital.

Naqvi directed the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police to complete the construction of six new police stations within 45 days. He assured that the police would be provided with all necessary resources, along with an improved intelligence-sharing mechanism, to maintain law and order, curb crime, and counter terrorism.
