Islamabad, July 5, 2025: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has finalized a special traffic and diversion plan for the 9th Muharram procession on Saurday. The plan aims to ensure the safety of participants and maintain a smooth flow of traffic throughout Islamabad during the procession.
Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Zeeshan Haider has finalized the traffic arrangements for the 9th of Muharram.
The main procession of the 9th of Muharram will start from the central Imambargah located in G-6/2, pass through its designated routes, and end at the same point.
During the procession, Fazl-e-Haq Road—from Polyclinic to Kulsoom Plaza—will remain closed for regular traffic. Citizens can use Jinnah Avenue from Kulsoom Plaza to China Chowk as an alternative route.
Seventh Avenue, from Daman-e-Koh Chowk towards Chand Tara Chowk, including the Blue Area out loop and both sides of 7th Avenue Chowk, will also be closed for normal traffic.

As alternate routes, citizens are advised to use Jinnah Avenue, Suharwardy Road, Faisal Avenue, and Margalla Road.
Saddar Road, from Iqbal Hall to Melody Chowk, will be closed in both directions. As an alternative, citizens can use Aabpara and Suharwardy Road.
Municipal Road, from Lal Masjid to Shohada Chowk and GPO Chowk, will remain closed on both sides.Shaheed Millat Road can be used as an alternate route.

Luqman Hakeem Road, from Polyclinic to Iqbal Hall, will also remain closed for traffic. For this period, Jinnah Avenue is available as an alternative.
The public is strictly advised to avoid illegal parking near the procession routes.Citizens are urged to park their vehicles only at designated parking spots, according to CTO Captain (R) Zeeshan Haider.
Traffic police officials will remain on duty to guide the public about alternative routes.
CTO Captain Zeeshan Haider has requested the citizens to use the alternative routes during the procession and to fully cooperate with the traffic police.
