Islamabad, May 18, 2025: Islamabad saw a shift in weather as rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, brought much-needed relief from the ongoing heatwave.

The sudden change offered a refreshing break for residents who had been dealing with scorching temperatures for days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), dark clouds loomed over the city before heavy rain lashed several areas, significantly lowering the temperature.

The strong showers, coupled with thunder and winds, make the temperature cooler.

The rain led to water accumulation on roads, disrupting vehicular movement and resulting in traffic jams at major intersections.

The PMD had earlier predicted thundershowers in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Officials confirmed that a westerly wave is currently affecting most parts of the country, while moist currents are making their way into the upper and central regions, triggering rainfall.

The change in weather has been welcomed by citizens, with many taking to social media to share their excitement and express relief.

Authorities have advised commuters to remain cautious, as slippery roads and waterlogging have been reported in some parts of the city.
