Islamabad, June 13, 2025: In a dramatic escalation, Israel launched fresh airstrikes on Tabriz and Shiraz, two major Iranian cities, deepening the military conflict that has unfolded over the past 24 hours.
According to reports, dense smoke was seen rising near the airport in Shiraz following the strikes, causing panic among civilians. The attack is believed to have targeted strategic military and logistical sites in both cities, though official Iranian confirmation is still awaited.
This comes hours after Israel targeted Iran’s nuclear plant at Natanz, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) headquarters in Tehran, and other sensitive defense infrastructure in an earlier coordinated assault involving over 200 Israeli fighter jets.
In retaliation, Iran launched over 100 drones toward Israeli territory in a significant counter attack. Tehran has vowed that further retaliations are pending.
Trump Urges Iran to Make a Deal
President Trump said in a post on his Truth Social media platform that he had given Iran “chance after chance” to make a deal with the U.S. on its nuclear program, but that despite his warnings to Tehran that the alternative would be “much worse” than anything seen before, “they just couldn’t get it done.”
“There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this slaughter, with the next already planned attacks being even more brutal, come to an end,” President Trump said. “Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left.”
Trump had earlier warned on Thursday that a “massive conflict” in the Middle East that could take place “soon.” In addition, several US officials warned that the risk of Israel striking Iran had risen after Tehran ramp up its nuclear activities due to the International Atomic Energy Agency passing a resolution saying that the country was not in compliance with its non-proliferation commitments.
