Islamabad, Jan 5: On Saturday, Shaza Fatima, the Minister of State for Information Technology, confirmed a major disruption in internet services across Pakistan caused by a fault in the international submarine cable system AAE-1. This issue has significantly impacted data traffic of approximately 1,000 gigabytes per second, severely slowing down online connectivity nationwide.
Efforts to Mitigate the Issue
To address the disruption, authorities have managed to successfully reroute 630 gigabytes per second of data traffic through alternative pathways. Additionally, they expect to redirect 200 gigabytes per second more shortly.
The Ministry of IT assured the public that efforts are being made to restore normal internet services as quickly as possible, with updates being provided regularly.
This disruption has affected various sectors relying on internet connectivity, but the government’s efforts are expected to bring the situation back to normal soon.
