Islamabad, Aug 13, 2025; The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has introduced a comprehensive AI policy framework built on six strategic pillars aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence adoption, driving innovation, and enhancing Pakistan’s global competitiveness in the tech arena.
These six pillars are designed to strengthen the national AI landscape by targeting innovation, talent readiness, data security, technological transformation, infrastructure development, and international partnerships.
As per the official AI policy, the first pillar, AI Innovation Ecosystem, will monitor the growth of startups and SMEs utilizing AI, the rise in AI-based employment opportunities, and the integration of AI in industries such as healthcare, agriculture, and smart cities. Key success measures will include tracking investment flows and funding in AI-driven ventures.
The second pillar, Awareness and Readiness, will prioritize boosting AI research, innovation, and intellectual property. Performance indicators include the number of AI-related research publications, patent filings, and research funding. This step aims to equip Pakistan’s workforce with the skills required for a rapidly evolving AI-driven economy.
Under the Secure AI Ecosystem pillar, the focus will shift to minimizing cyber risks, ensuring data standardization, and promoting ethical AI usage. Public campaigns will spread awareness on responsible AI practices, while existing infrastructure—such as NADRA, WAPDA, FBR, and health and education systems—will be digitized and synchronized for real-time data sharing.
The final three pillars—Transformation and Evolution, AI Infrastructure, and International Partnerships—will drive sector-specific AI adoption, expand national AI computing resources, establish AI hubs, increase dataset accessibility, and develop localized large language models.

Through global alliances, joint research, and participation in international AI platforms, Pakistan aims to stay aligned with worldwide AI progress and make the AI policy framework a foundation for long-term technological leadership.
