Islamabad, Mar 19 2025: Ravindra Jadeja is set to make his on-field return for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their opening match of IPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 23.
The five-time IPL champions will play their first game at home, with Ruturaj Gaikwad continuing as captain in the upcoming much-awaited 18th edition of the money-rich league.
Jadeja, a key member of CSK for over a decade, is on the verge of making IPL history. If he scores 41 more runs, he will become the first all-rounder to achieve both 3000 runs and 150 wickets.
Currently, the experienced India cricketer has amassed 2959 runs and taken 160 wickets in 240 IPL matches since his debut.
The left-handed all-rounder began his IPL journey in 2008 with Rajasthan Royals (RR), playing a crucial role in their title-winning campaign under Shane Warne.
After a brief stint with Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011, he was a sought-after player in the 2012 mini-auction, where CSK secured his services.
Although CSK retained him before the 2014 mega-auction, he later played for Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017 before rejoining CSK in 2018, remaining with the team ever since.
Jadeja was appointed CSK’s captain before IPL 2022, but the team struggled under his leadership, winning just two of their first eight matches. As a result, MS Dhoni resumed captaincy mid-season.
Despite losing his leadership role, Jadeja remained an integral part of CSK and played a pivotal role in their 2023 IPL title victory.
Ahead of IPL 2025, he was one of CSK’s highest-paid retained players at ₹18 crore, alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad, while Dhoni was retained for ₹4 crore under the uncapped category.
With a new season ahead, Jadeja now aims to cement his legacy with yet another milestone in IPL history.
