Jannat Mirza, Pakistan’s top TikTok star, has surged ahead of major actresses in the realm of social media popularity by achieving an impressive milestone of 25 million followers on TikTok.
This accomplishment establishes her as the sole Pakistani personality to reach such a significant number across any social media platform.
Since its inception in 2016, TikTok has garnered immense global popularity, amassing over 1 billion active users. To mark her achievement, Jannat celebrated by sharing a screenshot of her TikTok account on her official Instagram story, expressing immense happiness and gratitude to her “TikTok family.”
Compared to popular Pakistani actresses, Jannat Mirza’s social media dominance is evident with over 5 million followers on Instagram and 222,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.
Her rise underscores the growing influence of social media stars in Pakistan, often overshadowing traditional celebrities in terms of popularity and audience engagement.
TikTok’s success is attributed to its addictive algorithm and innovative content discovery features, which personalize user feeds based on preferences and behaviors. Beyond entertainment, TikTok plays a significant role in shaping societal perspectives among younger demographics.
However, TikTok faced scrutiny in Pakistan, leading to a temporary ban in July 2021 due to concerns over “immoral and indecent” content.
Following negotiations and assurances from TikTok to comply with local regulations, the ban was lifted in November 2021, reinstating the platform’s accessibility to Pakistani users.
