Islamabad, Aug 14, 2025: Actor John Abraham recently spoke about the emergence of politically charged and nationalism based films that have become a major dividing force among the audience. Just as it has been, he admitted that such movies tend to take the upper hand of selling tickets but denied that he is interested in producing such movie at all. “I am neither a left wing nor a right wing,” John said, adding that he would rather talk about genuine stories at the expense of commercial fanfare.

He wrote that blockbusters on the right-wing issue have huge audiences, but he was worried about those movies created to influence the opinion in naturally politically sensitive moments. Speaking of movies such as Chhaava and The Kashmir Files, John claimed that he was never tempted to be associated with something like that and will not. There have been critics of historical veracity and political curse that critics have said exist in these films despite the box office runs.

Topical discussions were raised by The Kashmir Files which was about the struggle of Kashmiri Pandits. Tax exemptions given to the movie by certain states increased its coverage. Jammu & Kashmir former chief minister Omar Abdullah asked what was fact and what was dramatization in the film.

People in the cinema halls in some places were observed chanting slogans and going after the Kashmiri Muslim population resulting in the right-wing groups staging protests outside the theaters.

His emphasis on worthwhile stories as opposed to divisive trends is also a point of contention given the extent to which his arguments take on a wider collection of politically inflammatory films such as The Kashmir Files.
