LONDON May 29, 2025: Junaid Safdar, the son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is reportedly preparing for his second engagement—this time to a relative within the Sharif family.
Sources close to the matter reveal the engagement has been finalized in Lahore, signaling yet another high-profile family union within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership.
Junaid Safdar will soon be engaged to the daughter of Usman Javed, whose father Javed Shafi is a first cousin of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. This alliance not only strengthens familial bonds but may also reinforce internal unity within the influential Sharif political dynasty.
The families, including Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Javed Shafi, met at the former prime minister’s Model Town residence in Lahore earlier this week to finalize the engagement arrangements. One insider stated, “The rishta has been agreed upon, and dates for the engagement and nikah will be set in mutual consultation.”
This will be Junaid’s second marriage. His first marriage to Ayesha Saif, daughter of Qatari businessman Saifur Rehman Khan, took place in 2021 in London.
Their wedding at the luxurious Lanesborough Hotel in Knightsbridge made headlines, especially as Nawaz Sharif was in self-exile at the time. The couple parted ways amicably in October 2023.
