National junior chess champion Mehak Maqbool made headlines by defeating Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in a friendly chess match.
The young prodigy, a student of a government school, outplayed the chief minister in just 15 moves in the game held in recognition of her recent achievements.
The match was attended by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah, Sports Minister Muhammad Bakhsh Mehar, and other officials and dignitaries.
CM Murad Ali Shah personally invited Mehak to play, acknowledging her success in the national chess arena.
Recently, the junior chess champion secured the Under-18 title and showcased her skills by swiftly defeating the chief minister.
Murad Ali Shah praised Mehak’s talent and dedication, particularly appreciating her ability to excel in both academics and chess while studying in a public sector school.
The Chief Minister also commended her as a role model for young students across the country. Notably, the chief minister has been involved in chess for decades.
Murad Ali Shah has been a member of the International Chess Federation since 1992 and is known for his expertise in the game.
The Sindh provincial government pledged support for young talent, backing Mehak and others aiming for international success.
