The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has taken proactive measures to tackle cheating during examinations. To address this concern, security barcodes will now be integrated into exam papers as a deterrent against fraudulent activities.
In addition, to address the risks of heat-related illnesses, medical teams will be stationed during exams to promptly assist students showing symptoms of heatstroke.
Commencing May 28, as intermediate exams begin, students will benefit from enhanced facilities aimed at safeguarding their well-being. For the first time, students will have access to first aid boxes containing medications to alleviate symptoms such as nausea, fever, weakness, and electrolyte imbalances exacerbated by the heatwave.
These provisions, including painkillers, anti-allergy tablets, glucose, vitamin C, and mineral water, will be provided free of charge. Additionally, ambulances will be stationed outside examination centers, with support from private institutions.
Chairman BIEK, Prof. Naseem Memon, underscored the board’s dedication to student welfare during exams. Only colleges equipped with essential facilities are designated as examination centers. To deter cheating, security printing featuring individualized barcodes has been introduced for each paper, enabling comprehensive candidate verification.
Furthermore, each examination center will be supervised by a superintendent officer from a single college to oversee all arrangements. The board has also updated its official website, Facebook, and Instagram accounts, providing students with convenient access to exam-related information, mark sheets, certificates, and results from the comfort of their homes. Prof. Naseem Memon expressed confidence that this initiative will facilitate seamless communication with students.
