Islamabad, Aug 29: According to a new monsoon system, Karachi is expected to have significant rain today, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced on Thursday.
According to information, Karachi is currently located 290 kilometers away from the potent monsoon system. As a result, the MET office stated that strong rain is predicted for today between 2 and 8 p.m.
According to the PMD, Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 26°C this morning along with 90% humidity. But later today, a temperature increase of 30°C is anticipated.
Sardar Sarfaraz, PMD Chief Meteorologist, has issued an alert regarding urban floods in the port city.
The PMD head stated that scattered heavy to isolated very heavy falls were also anticipated, along with wind thunderstorms.
Notably, in Karachi and other Sindhi metropolises, inundation from rain and urban flooding caused by heavy downpours are also fears.
In the meantime, the Sindh government has set up a Rain Emergency Cell in the Chief Minister’s office to keep an eye on the province’s rainfall conditions in Karachi and other areas.
Due to the severe rainfall this week, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has instructed all Divisional Commissioners in the state to exercise caution.
