Islamabad 31 July: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation, Karachi, has announced revised customs values for the import of 14 different types of solar inverters from China, following a review of the earlier valuation.

According to the latest Valuation Ruling, issued Thursday, the updated customs values replace those previously set under Valuation Ruling No. 1913/2024, dated November 5, 2024. The earlier ruling was established under Section 25-A of the Customs Act, 1969.

However, the initial valuation faced objections and was formally challenged under Section 25-D of the Customs Act before the Director General of Customs Valuation. After reviewing the case, the Director General issued Order-in-Revision No. 08/2025, dated February 4, 2025, which directed a comprehensive re-evaluation of the customs values.

The order also recommended a further breakdown of the categories based on capacity to more accurately reflect market realities and product diversity. As a result, customs authorities have now subdivided the solar inverters into more precise categories for valuation purposes.

The updated ruling aims to ensure fair taxation, prevent under-invoicing, and align customs duties with international pricing standards for solar technology. Importers have been advised to comply with the new valuation framework when declaring shipments
