Islamabad, Mar 26, 2025: In a major decision, the Sindh Assembly’s parliamentary committee has announced grace marks for first-year intermediate students in Karachi who failed their annual exams.
This step comes after concerns were raised about the examination process and administrative structure of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK).
The decision follows an investigation by a fact-finding committee led by Dr. Sarosh Lodi.
The committee highlighted irregularities in the board’s evaluation system, leading to unfair results for many students.
After reviewing the findings, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah confirmed that students who failed would receive grace marks.
Addressing Examination Irregularities
The fact-finding report pointed out discrepancies in the marking process, noting that many students who had performed well in their matriculation exams saw an unexpected drop in their first-year results.
This raised suspicions about the board’s administrative shortcomings, prompting the government to take corrective measures.

This decision compensates students affected by the flawed evaluation process.
Reforms in the Education System
Along with awarding grace marks, the Sindh government has vowed to revamp the BIEK’s structure to prevent similar issues in the future.
The education minister assured that the government would introduce necessary reforms and take strict action against individuals responsible for the students’ academic setbacks.
This move has relieved thousands of students and their families, ensuring that administrative failures do not compromise genuine academic performance.
The government’s decision also underscores its commitment to improving the education system and ensuring fair assessments for all students.
