Islamabad, Jan 26: Amid a worrying rise in child abduction cases in Karachi, police have issued new safety guidelines for schools and seminaries to bolster the protection of children. The advisory emphasizes that children should only leave school premises with their parents or legal guardians. Parents are also advised to avoid sending their children unaccompanied, stressing the need for supervised travel to ensure safety.
The urgency of these measures was underscored by a recent abduction attempt in Korangi’s Bhitai Colony, where a young girl narrowly escaped being kidnapped. CCTV footage captured the incident in Sector D, showing a woman walking with the girl when two men on a motorcycle approached. One of the men dismounted and tried to grab the child, but she resisted and shouted for help. The woman accompanying her also called for assistance, forcing the suspects to abandon their attempt and flee. Reports suggest the suspect threatened to harm the girl if she did not comply. Korangi SSP has confirmed an ongoing investigation based on the family’s statement, with efforts underway to apprehend the culprits.

This incident has heightened concerns about the effectiveness of law enforcement, especially as several high-profile kidnapping cases remain unsolved. Among them is the case of Sarim, a minor who was abducted and later found dead after going missing from his apartment complex in New Karachi. Despite investigations, police have yet to identify those responsible.
The unresolved disappearance of two young boys, Aaliyan and Ali, aged five and six respectively, has further fueled anxiety. The children went missing from the Garden West area, with CCTV footage showing a man and woman on a motorcycle with the boys, who appeared to be in a semi-conscious state. Despite this critical evidence, authorities have been unable to locate the suspects or the missing children.
These alarming incidents have sparked widespread fear and outrage among parents and the community, putting immense pressure on law enforcement to step up efforts to address the growing threat. Parents are demanding more robust measures to ensure the safety of their children, as calls for swift and decisive action continue to intensify.
