Islamabad, Jan 26: On India’s Republic Day, Kashmiris across the globe are observing it as a Black Day, protesting against the ongoing denial of their fundamental right to self-determination by India. This call for protest has been echoed by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and numerous pro-freedom organizations.
In Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the day is marked by a complete shutdown, while anti-India demonstrations are taking place in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan, and several key international cities. These protests serve as a strong message to the global community, highlighting India’s unjust occupation and violation of the basic rights of Kashmiris.
In a grim display of the harsh realities faced by Kashmiris, the region has been subjected to intensified security measures, further worsening the already difficult living conditions. From the notorious Tihar jail in New Delhi, APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt condemned India’s military presence in the region, calling it illegal and in direct contravention of international law.
In Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, a large protest is unfolding outside the Indian High Commission. The demonstration, organized by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has drawn a significant number of participants, including women and children, all wearing black armbands and waving black flags as a symbol of their rejection of India’s actions in Kashmir.

Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, joined the protest, emphasizing that India’s practices in Kashmir are those of a fascist state, not a democracy.
At a press conference, Prime Minister Haq accused India of using baseless allegations against Pakistan to cover up its state-sponsored terrorism.
He called on the international community to no longer accept India’s double standards and to take stronger action to support Kashmir’s right to self-determination.
Haq emphasized that mere diplomatic support would not resolve the Kashmir issue and that tangible steps are necessary to secure the region’s independence.
