Islamabad, Nov 2: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KP-BOIT) stated that it would like to bid on the sale of Pakistan International Airlines (Buying PIA).
KP-BOIT Vice Chairman Hasan Masood Kanwar wrote to Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan,
stating that the letter acts as our official intent to position the Government of KP as a competitive bidder in this strategic acquisition on behalf of
“The Chief Minister/Chairman and the people of KP.”
“As Pakistan’s National Flag Carrier, Buying PIA represents a critical asset for the nation, symbolizing our national identity and pride.
Recognizing the importance of retaining PIA within the national fold,
the Chief Minister has directed us to actively pursue this acquisition to ensure the airline remains
under the control of the Government of Pakistan rather than transferring to any private or foreign-backed entity,” the letter reads.
In keeping with this pledge, we are ready to submit a bid that will outbid Blue World Consortium’s current top
bid of Rs. 10 billion, guaranteeing a solid and competitive position in this process, the letter stated.
In order to preserve PIA’s legacy and to satisfy the public’s desire to preserve national assets,
We humbly ask that the Government of KPK’s proposal be taken into consideration as a feasible option to keep the National Flag Carrier under a provincial government framework.
