Islamabad, Jan 7: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is set to implement a new ranking system for universities and colleges, aimed at boosting the quality of higher education in the province. The announcement came during a significant meeting led by the Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi, who discussed the comprehensive plans for the initiative.
Minister Afridi emphasized that the primary objective of the ranking system is to improve access to high-quality education across KP. She expressed optimism that the initiative would bring about a transformation in the education sector by fostering healthy competition among educational institutions. Afridi believes that rankings will push universities and colleges to raise their standards and focus on providing better academic resources and facilities for students.
In the meeting, officials from the Higher Education Department outlined the proposed criteria for the rankings. The system will evaluate universities and colleges based on multiple factors, including academic performance, infrastructure, faculty qualifications, research output, and student satisfaction. The department will gather data from the past three years, ensuring that the rankings reflect a thorough and accurate analysis of each institution’s performance.
The new ranking system is designed to empower students with valuable insights, allowing them to make informed decisions about their education. Additionally, the initiative will encourage institutions to adopt best practices and align with global educational standards.
Afridi directed the Higher Education Department to begin the data collection process immediately, with a target to publish the first set of rankings in the coming months.
