The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to make candidates with associate degrees eligible for jobs.
Provincial Education Minister Meena Khan Afridi said that associate degree programs have been launched in over 250 BS programs. Only those programs where student enrollment has gradually decreased have been shifted to associate degrees. Students will be able to obtain an associate degree after completing 4 semesters, i.e., 2 years.
Meena Khan Afridi further stated that under the HEC policy, students can later complete their BS degree at the same or another college/university. Programs with satisfactory student strength will continue as regular 4-year BS degrees. An associate degree will also be acceptable for employment.
