The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has officially announced the discontinuation of BS programs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa colleges, replacing them with Associate Degree (AD) programs across the province. The move comes as part of a restructuring initiative to align the curriculum with market demand and student enrollment trends.

As per the department’s notification, several disciplines previously offered under the BS framework have been categorized as non-essential. To streamline higher education, these will now be substituted with AD programs that are considered more practical and relevant.

Officials highlighted that the number of students registering for BS programs had been consistently low, while the dropout ratio remained alarmingly high. This imbalance between admissions and completion rates played a significant role in reshaping the academic model.

According to the released details, 36 colleges have discontinued multiple subjects, and an official list has been circulated. Overall, nearly 230 BS courses in 128 government colleges have now been transitioned to AD programs.
