Islamabad, Aug 8, 2025: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Education Department has introduced Phase 6 of its Double Shift School Program, aiming to bring out-of-school children into the regular academic structure. This initiative is designed to boost access to learning, especially in areas where children are unable to attend regular morning sessions.
As outlined in government records, 62 more educational institutions from different parts of the province have been added in this latest round. These include 16 schools in Haripur, 11 in Swabi, four each in Abbottabad and Lakki Marwat, three in Lower Dir, four in Nowshera and one school each in Khyber and Mardan.
Officials stated that both boys and girls schools have been included to ensure gender equality in access to education. The afternoon shift will particularly support working children, enabling them to continue their jobs in the morning and study later in the day. This double shift schooling model is already functioning effectively in more than 1,000 institutions throughout the province.

District-level administrations have been directed to fasten the admission campaign so more students can benefit. Authorities believe this move is crucial in decreasing the number of children not attending school and supporting broader education goals.
The provincial leadership has described the programme as a landmark effort in promoting literacy and helping children from marginalized communities enter mainstream classrooms.
