Islamabad, May 20, 2025: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is expected to unveil its budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 after Eid-ul-Adha, with a proposed expenditure nearing Rs. 1,900 billion, according to provincial finance adviser Muzzammil Aslam.
The province’s Annual Development Programme (ADP) is likely to be set between Rs. 165 billion and Rs. 175 billion, while development funding for the merged tribal districts will be finalized by the federal government, the adviser added.

Speaking about KPK government priorities, Muzzammil Aslam clarified that the upcoming budget will not feature any new mega projects, but resources will be directed toward the completion of ongoing schemes.
He also addressed the issue of the 2% tax on exports, which was introduced last year under the label of the Infrastructure Development Tax and applied to exports via land and air routes from the province. However, the tariff faced legal challenges, which halted its implementation.

In light of this, the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has prepared its recommendations for the new budget, aiming to resolve tax matters through mutual understanding, said the chamber’s president.
Meanwhile, transgender activists have also raised demands ahead of the new budget, urging the provincial government to ensure job creation, as well as improved access to education and healthcare services in the next financial year.
