Islamabad, June 27, 2025: Washington Freedom secured a five-wicket victory over LA Knight Riders in a nail-biting, high-scoring final-ball clash in Dallas. With this win in the LA Knight Riders vs Washington Freedom match, Freedom edged closer to confirming their playoffs qualification and solidified their hopes of finishing in the top-two as they usurped Texas Super Kings to second spot.
The dramatic pursuit came down to just seven required from the last over. Although Andre Russell sent down a wide and then leaked a boundary, narrowing the equation to two from five deliveries, he managed to stretch the game to the very last ball.
Delivering precise wide yorkers and sharp bouncers, Russell kept Knight Riders in contention. With one needed off the final ball, Jason Holder brought all fielders inside the circle to block a single but dropped a catch at mid-on that popped up off his hands. His diving second effort failed too, allowing Glenn Phillips and Obus Pienaar to scamper the winning run.
