Islamabad, June 26, 2025: The Punjab administration has declared that all vehicle Emissions Testing System (ETS) booths throughout Lahore will stay non-operational today due to persistent rainfall.

As per authorities, ETS booths function in uncovered areas, and the choice was taken to protect both ETS personnel and the general public. Residents have been urged not to visit ETS booths today and may contact 1373 for additional details.

In the meantime, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz recently sanctioned an extension of the complimentary vehicle emissions testing deadline. Previously set to conclude on June 30, the free facility will now be available until August 31, 2025, enabling more residents to benefit.

Earlier, Secretary of the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department Raja Jahangir Anwar had stated that the free ETS initiative would eventually be substituted with paid emissions testing services at certified private automobile dealerships across Lahore. According to the plan, drivers would have to pay Rs. 400 per inspection.

Nevertheless, the extended deadline gives citizens more time to make use of the no-cost service before the shift takes place. This step is part of the provincial government’s continued initiatives to curb pollution and promote cleaner air in the city.
