Modern Transport for Market-Goers
The newly inaugurated tram service starts from Multan Road and transports passengers directly into the core sections of the cattle market, including the animal enclosures.
This initiative is aimed at easing mobility within the sprawling marketplace and enhancing the overall experience for the public.
Local visitors have largely responded positively to the service, describing it as a convenient and thoughtful addition.
Many were seen making their way to the livestock areas with greater ease, enjoying the short but smooth journey offered by the tram.
Public Response and Operational Goals
A representative from the Punjab Cattle Market Management and Development Company (PCMMDC) explained that the project was designed to support the growing number of daily visitors and improve accessibility, particularly during peak livestock trading seasons.
He noted that enhancing the market’s infrastructure remains a top priority for the company.
The official added that customer comfort and service quality are at the heart of ongoing upgrades.
The tram service, he said, reflects the organisation’s broader commitment to delivering efficient, modern solutions for both buyers and sellers in the livestock trade.

Continued Development and Future Plans
With footfall expected to rise in the weeks leading up to Eid-ul-Azha, authorities are working to ensure that the market facilities remain organised, accessible, and clean.
The PCMMDC has confirmed that additional improvements, including enhanced sanitation and shaded waiting areas, are also underway as part of a comprehensive market upgrade.
As Shahpur Kanjran evolves into a more visitor-friendly space, officials hope that innovations like the tram service will set a benchmark for similar livestock markets across the province.
